The Guardians Advocate is a nonprofit agency providing self-defense and mentoring programs for at risk youth (middle and high school) and victims of domestic violence in the Charlotte Metro area. We are under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and contributions to The Guardians Advocate are deductible under section 170 of the code. We are also qualified to receive tax deductible bequests, devices, transfers or gifts under Section 2055, 2106, or 2522 of the code.
Through repeated failures in the classroom and the development of destructive habits, at-risk young people have lost faith in the possibilities that await them if they are successful in putting their lives together. To accomplish this goal, young people must be in a caring, inclusive learning environment that promotes their best effort and reinforces personal respect and discipline.
Most domestic violence victims feel very alone and confused as a result of the abuse. Victims often feel they have nowhere to turn – they may worry no one will believe them, they may blame themselves for the abuse, and they may fear their abuser will hurt them, their children, or their pets if they reveal the abuse to anyone outside their home. The Guardians advocate is here to foster an environment that will help reteach self-confidence, trust and love.
