The Guardians Advocate is a nonprofit agency providing self-defense and mentoring programs for at risk youth (middle and high school) and victims of domestic violence in the Charlotte Metro area. We are under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and contributions to The Guardians Advocate are deductible under section 170 of the code. We are also qualified to receive tax deductible bequests, devices, transfers or gifts under Section 2055, 2106, or 2522 of the code.
Through repeated failures in the classroom and the development of destructive habits, at-risk young people have lost faith in the possibilities that await them if they are successful in putting their lives together. To accomplish this goal, young people must be in a caring, inclusive learning environment that promotes their best effort and reinforces personal respect and discipline.
Most domestic violence victims feel very alone and confused as a result of the abuse. Victims often feel they have nowhere to turn – they may worry no one will believe them, they may blame themselves for the abuse, and they may fear their abuser will hurt them, their children, or their pets if they reveal the abuse to anyone outside their home. The Guardians advocate is here to foster an environment that will help reteach self-confidence, trust and love.
FEED A FRIEND CHARLOTTE
March, 31 2018
The Collective Organization and Guardian’s Advocate happily presents, "Feed A Friend: Charlotte", a community service driven event providing family fun, food, music and educational workshops March 31st, 2018, 10:00am-3:00pm at: 311 W 24th St., Charlotte NC 28206.
Those willing to donate time, items and/or money to the care and benefit of homeless and underserved individuals and families in our community are respectfully being asked to meet at the location of the event at 10:00am and bring with them their contributions and positive energy. Your contributions will directly affect mothers and children living in homeless and other shelters that serve women that are victims of domestic abuse. We are also centering our focus on specified North Charlotte underserved and/or impoverished areas.
2017-18 BACK TO SCHOOL DRIVE
Each year the Guardians Advocate hosts our back to school supply drive. This year we partnered with Canvas Cuts Barber Lounge to station drop off containers for donations from the local community. With the help of our community we were able to deliver back packs filled with school supplies.
GUARDIAN'S IN THE PARK
Each year we take time to reward our hard working parents and the students of Legacy Martial Arts & Fitness along with the local community. We call it Guardian's In the Park and we invite the parents and children from our local neighborhoods to come out for food, fun, music and games. This year we chose Frank Lisk park in Harrisburg NC.
